These days I… do you remember the Three Stooges Syndrome, the one very well described in a Simpsons episode?, well, in that case they were germs and bugs whereas here it’s about editorials and ads, but it’s about the same principle: when too much stuff tries to pass through a door, well, it goes nowhere.
To have a clearer idea of what I mean… right yesterday in the subway I had the (bad) idea to sum up what I’d like to post these days:
Yes, I write like a little school girl (in fact my writing is usually even more regular)… no, I said “little school girl”, not teenager, in that age writing is a strong display of personality (for girls especially), therefore a messy mess… and yes, because of the Three Stooges Syndrome: too much stuff, nothing passes. I mean, at least until this morning.
I dreamed of nothing in particular, better nothing that I can remember in fact, but as I woke up after something like 5 hours of sleep yawning like Chewbacca and still with eye boogers (eew!), my first thought of the day instinctively went to these:

Btw no, before you may think “Awww, so sweet…”, yes, it is, those images are, but in fact my mind went to all the shots by Charlie Engman for Urban Outfitters.

And when I say “all”, I really mean “all”. Actually what I literally loved is how these shots followed the same “sweet & delicate / grunge” line of those by Eléonore Hendricks (still for Urban Outfitters, and with Dempsey as well),

but with a strong injection of wild, jaunty, fierce, mischievous, and playful vibes that totally belong to Dempsey – and which make of her the best model possible here,

and generally such an interesting and unique option.
Usually when I see a lot of images from the same shoot I’m kind of… let’s say I’m not exactly enthusiastic, a lot of times redundancy ruins everything, and so 2, 3, even 4 good shots somehow tend to blend with a flaw of ordinary (or just mediocre) material. This is not the case. Totally isn’t (it’s been pretty hard to cut shots), and in fact talking about Dempsey this represents a thorough and wonderful compendium of her best and most welcome qualities – thing that actually with models happens very few times.
To close: another little consideration about Dempsey. Even if this song has always been (personally, obvious) mentally associated with another girl (a model, but in that case I talk about “me and the girl”, and not the model), there’s a line I find perfect for Dempsey as well:
“Oh, you ain’t never had nothin’ I wanted, but… I want it all, I just can’t figure out… nothin’”.
I can say I’m totally not a fan of models like Gisele or Natasha Poly or Adriana Lima (just to give you an idea), it happens with that kind of girls in “real life” as well, and I talk about the type of femininity they embody especially. So no, I’m generally not a fan of “stunning bombshells”, but that said… even if totally different I can’t say I rationally love Dempsey so much neither. I mean, I talk about her face, the hair, her skin, her body (‘cause yes, I like her kind of figure, but hers, specifically a matter of “early teenage proportions” especially, not so much), the sometimes “Julia Nobis-ian” femininity, but… nevertheless lately there’s a huge “but” in fact. Briefly: I find Dempsey so drop dead attractive, even if not in a “fascinating” acceptation of the thing, it’s more about an instinctive and wild feeling indeed – and these shots totally confirmed it. Better, I liked them so much exactly because they highlighted for the best (with such a tremendous naturalness) the marvelous and fierce contradictions Dempsey embodies and expresses (so sweet and delicate, and at the same time… well, is an image like “adorable grunge princess” clear enough?, I hope so…), and like practically nothing I’ve ever seen done by Dempsey so far.
