First of all, yep, I liked these shots. Even if I almost forgot them (what a luck, to see the personally-not-exactly-outstanding cover of the new issue reminded me of these…) and despite what good part of the people I asked an opinion about told me, I liked these shots. Why? Well, first of all as a good starting point here the shots I liked the most:

I can’t image this magic possible with other models. In fact what powerfully comes out is what I underlined quite often talking about runway, and so how amazing is the at the same time cold and fragile and delicate apathy Codie can express (the image of the “ice flower” is still a very good one). In fact shots I liked the most here are those where her expressivity “went with the flow” of the suggestions proposed by a quite austere makeup, forcing anything wasn’t required and best option possible, and why is here to be seen.
I wrote about the quite peculiar makeup, but the fil rouge of these shots in fact is about some other things: garter belts, rubber stockings, makeup, hair, and… well, sure, and Codie. The garter belts / rubber stockings duo especially has been very interesting, ‘cause proposed a… if we consider them and them only, and then the makeup if you want, suggestions should be captivating but at the same time quite tough, rough and with a strong injection of severe fierceness, but partially because of the styling (deliberately heterogeneous), partially because of an amazing Codie, what comes out is successfully cryptic and hard to univocally read – and in fact I guess that’s the reason why some people didn’t like this: you can’t “read” these shots, you can’t detect some elements (take the cigarettes: after all here they aren’t part of a confident sexy woman’s “paraphernalia”, and even considering those sexy elements Codie plays the part more like a schoolgirl smoking a cigarette right after hours of boring lessons) and compare them to any aesthetic category or fascinating/captivating ordinary suggestion, these shots, just like Codie if you want, are to be considered by themselves, period.
Then, a couple of good considerations about her body: these shots give me a good opportunity to underline two things I literally love, so her structure, and her marvelous body language, to not be confused with posing, of which it may represent a part but a part and a part only is. So yep, all that said, I think her body represents a good part of the reasons why these shots are so intriguing, fascinating and captivating; in a quite peculiar and unique way if you want, but… well, nevertheless intriguing, fascinating and captivating they are.
Last but not least, before I forget – it’s not by chance that most of those (my fav, above) shots (except one) have “everyday / real-life” (it’s not about “outdoor locations” in fact) settings, and not those neutral backgrounds you’ll in great part find above. The powerful impact of the contrast of such a peculiar and “kind of tough” choice about makeup, hair and styling (from this point of view talking about those garter belts and rubber stockings, as I wrote above somehow in marked and intentional contrast with good part of the clothes as well, before than with the settings) and the locations chosen for the shots has been very interesting and absolutely successful. And Codie too, partially because of her beauty, her body presence and as I said body language embodies and once again proposes those contrasts very very well – and like few other models could.

So that’s it, one of my fav models (talking about runway as well) in an editorial I found quite interesting and which with its peculiar suggestions once again highlighted the marvelous uniqueness (and, why not?, inimitable charm) of Codie. You may like it, you may not (I repeat it: I did), but… you know, it happens, there are some things I find interesting and noteworthy but which I personally may not like so much, and whether you like these shots or not I guess you should at least find yourself in that kind of situation.
