+ Romee Strijd @ Elle Netherlands June 2012 by Duy Quoc Vo – Delicately stunning

Because of the many interesting (and sometimes amazing) Dutch models there are at the moment, and so some kind of “cut-throat competition” (hehe or so) there could be talking about any TOP 5 / 10 / even 20 (or 50) you could try to draw, well, it doesn’t necessary have to be such a bad thing if I say Romee isn’t one of my very favorite models from the Netherlands at the moment. But the good thing is she’s absolutely growing on me, and lately I’ve thought of her more than ever, with positive and optimistic expectations – as you can see here definitely fulfilled.

After a little (and somehow marginal from some points of view) “Despite an excellent and impeccable walk I still can’t be a huge fan of her talking about runway and shows” preamble (it’s mainly about a certain attitude and the body structure for the record – and wait, btw I consider her a good and interesting option after all), well, what to say about this marvelous model from Zoetermeer?

If we talk about the girl, I simply love her: she’s just gorgeous, hers are some of the most beautiful candids you have the chance to see (even if I’m generally not a fan of the genre…), and so is she, drop dead beautiful. That said and back to those candids, her radiant smile is certainly one of the most mesmerizing around, and powerfully contributes (with a bright and cheerful attitude) to give you the feeling of a beauty as crystal clear as incredibly genuine and natural. From this point of view, one of the few models you can describe as “Gracefully cute / pretty / lovely” and at the same time “Strikingly beautiful” with disarming ease… or just “Delicately stunning” if you prefer.

So, all that said – why have I liked these shots so much?

Ok, what I wrote about those bright and lively vibes obviously doesn’t come out in these shots, but after all those same considerations can bring us in a similar direction, so the one beaten by models who can be marvelously reassuring and somehow “reader-friendly”, the way Romee certainly is. And it’s not only about an attitude, what you may (more or less voluntarily) express, but about your body structure, the kind of beauty, so many natural and someway innate things after all, and Romee effectively showed it her, in an editorial where a lot of other models would have proposed a way less multifaceted (and somehow interesting) seduction.

‘cause yes, these shots are certainly intense, and so the captivating seduction they express, but Romee gives to these shots another dimension, fascinating, fabulous, and certainly capable of seducing with a presence marvelously delicate yet powerfully suggested; from this last point of view, I mean, it’s not one of those cases where you have the feeling of a lifeless body, she (obviously helped by the fantastic work of the photographer) really suggests the most intimate nature of what a “sexy shot” should be all about, so: the actual presence of a (yes, attractive) girl in front of a camera. That considered ok her eyes, the wonderful lips (underlip especially), but her body too because of its being as “reassuring” (for the average female reader; and btw like few other models, just to give you an idea of what I mean we certainly don’t talk about a model like Amber Anderson in this case, hers, of Romee, is a way more borderline case after all) and delicate as capable of being simply enticing is a unique trademark, the same (body) that so far hasn’t completely convinced me talking about the runway chapter, but which in print makes of Romee a model I adore and find marvelously noteworthy (and somehow inimitable, despite a maybe seeming regular and common look).

So yes, I liked a lot these shots, and reasons are plain to see: first of all impeccable, flawless both considering a comfortable posing and fitting (intense) interpretation, Romee proposed a seduction as delicate as incredibly powerful, expressing her best and some subtle yet marvelous nuances I simply adore.
